I've had this obsession with Kate Spade for a while and I realized it was because 'she' and I both share this love for black and white stripes! I love the subtlety of stripes on handbags, especially when it's on the interior. It just gives an interesting contrast that makes it that much less boring. Of course, this bag is not from Kate Spade. I actually picked it up at TJ Maxx for about $40 as my main carry-all. And I've been using it mainly when I'm traveling somewhere far or going to school. Great bag, great price, and interior stripes. Perfect.
I love having random pops of colorful things on my white desk. Not too much color, but a little color always brightens up my working space. I try to rearrange my desk area every month or so to keep me from getting bored of it. I'm a highly visual person (as you all should know) so it's a big deal to me on how I have my living space arranged. In my current apartment, space is pretty small so it's a bit difficult to have the kind of visual atmosphere that I envision, but even small things can help make your working space a bit more pleasant.
Only 3 more weeks left until I graduate. My work flow seems to have slowed down but it's really only because now it's less about my portfolio and more about how to arrange the space for my table at the portfolio show. I still feel like my time is mostly consumed by graduation though. It ain't over until it's over.
TAG: photo a day
I thought I'd mix it up a bit and do a "series" of photos pertaining to the day. Especially since I'm not taking photos regularly these days, I thought it would be more special to put a little more 'love' into these.
This is a lip balm that came in a set of 4, that I got in Vegas. They smell as good as they sound! It's tempting not to just bite into it or lick your lip after putting it on. Honestly, I'm not a fan of lip balms that aren't minty or have that tingly menthol smell. But I was suckered into the packaging here. :P
Went to check out Nisei festival in Little Tokyo over the weekend. It's a Japanese cultural festival with tons of specialized food vendors. It took every strength in my body to not go on a rampage and eat everything that was there. Also got to check out the Daiso in Alhambra. It's actually slightly bigger than the one in Koreatown, although they sell most if not all of the same stuff. That place is just dangerous. Even though it's a "$1.50" store, I can never walk out of there without at least dropping a good 20. But at least everything ends up being pretty useful. :)
In other news, I now use TWO screens on my computer! I'm actually using my boyfriend's laptop as my main computer and using my old monitor as my main screen. My old desktop (which was also a hand-me-down from my bf....) was outdated and my boyfriend's laptop is apparently better than the desktop by a landslide. The only two things I cared about was how fast my Adobe programs would load and how well LoL plays (lol). Both things tested out to be really fast so I'm pretty happy. I just hate having to transfer all my crap into a new computer (again). It got too dark to post an updated photo, but I also went out to IKEA today and got a side table to put the laptop on. It was bugging me to have the laptop on my desk because I like my DESK SPACE. I am very anal about my desk space. I hate clutter in working spaces. You know, like when I'm designing, I NEED to have free space around my working area or else I'll go mad. Anyone else like that? Maybe I'm just weird. Nah.
Another relaxing weekend up in Oxnard. I took some photos of the little flowers that grow in those ugly hedge bushes in people's yards. There was really nothing else to photograph where I was that I haven't photographed already, but you can always capture nature. Plus, photographing mundane things is kind of my forte. Mostly because I never have anything interesting to photograph and when there is something interesting, I don't know how to capture it.
I was supposed to work on my midterm stuff Sunday but I left my macbook charger at home. But you know what, I needed the break. I needed to just relax and take it easy. A little R&R never hurt anyone.
Then Monday rolled around as fast as I could blink. And the daily grind continues.
